Daily Qur'an & Hadith 25 June 2013 (15 Shaban 1434)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[23].Surah Al-Muminun [The Believers]

Ayat 116. So Exalted be Allah, the True King, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Lord of the Supreme Throne!

Ayat 117. And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allah, any other illah (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kafirun (the disbelievers in Allah and in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful.

Ayat 118. And say (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) : "My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!"

These are the last Ayats of Surah Al-Muminun, 23rd Surah of Al-Quran, this Surah contained 118 ayats, Insha Allah from tomorrow 24th Surah of Al-Quran Surah An-Nur will starts.

[Tafseer] of ayat 116. Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, and the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour! 117. If anyone invokes, besides Allah, Any other god, he has no authority therefore; and his reckoning will be only with his Lord! and verily the Unbelievers will fail to win through! Not with anyone else whatever, as Allah is the Eternal Reality. If men, out of the figments of their imagination, fancy other gods, they will be rudely undeceived. And Allah is Lord, i.e., our Cherisher as well as our Creator. In spite of all our shortcomings and our rebellions, He will forgive us if we go to Him not on our merits but on His grace. See the same word used in describing the contrast with the Believers, in the first verse of this Surah. Righteousness must win and all opposition to it must fail. Thus the circle of the argument is completed. 118. So say: "O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: Prior to his demise, the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate frequently: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi; Astaghfirullaha wa atubu ilaihi (Allah is free from imperfection, and I begin with praising Him. I beg forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance.''

[Muslim, Book 04, Chapter 37, Hadith # 982]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Muminun Ayat 118.""My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!" In general, asking of forgiveness all the time is necessary and commendable. But during the old age and the last days of one's life it is particularly very essential. In this way, the Sunnah of the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) would also be followed. .
